Russ Peterman has been trying cases for almost 30 years since graduating from The University of Alabama School of Law in 1988 in the top quarter of his class where he was a Senior Editor on the Alabama Law Review and a member of the Trial Advocacy Board.
Russ has litigated a wide variety of cases in several states including Alabama, Mississippi, Florida, North Carolina and Colorado. He is licensed to practice law in Colorado, North Carolina, Montana, and Alabama.
Russ began, his career as a trial lawyer, in Mobile, Alabama where he helped try cases involving asbestos claims in the late 1980s and early 90s.
Since then he has exclusively represented individual citizens who have been injured by someone else’s negligence or those accused of crimes by the government and has tried all types of cases including but not limited to: wrongful death claims involving motor vehicle and truck negligence, first degree murder charges, bank robbery in federal court, premises liability claims against big box retail stores, serious workers’ compensation claims for permanently injured workers, social disability claims for permanently disabled workers, intentional tort claims involving assaults and battery, injury tort claims against state governments and all types of car wreck claims from low impact rear-end collisions to roll overs on the interstate involving drunk drivers. Russ has also taken and defended hundreds of depositions and participated in over a hundred mediations and arbitrations.
Russ, in addition to his extensive litigation background, has continued to hone his trial skills over the years by attending and completing schools designed specifically to train trail lawyers in cutting edge techniques. He is a proud graduate of Gerry Spence’s Trial Lawyers College in Wyoming and The National Trial Advocacy College in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Russ believes that in order to effectively represent a client he has to get to know them on a very personal level, so he often visits them in their home to learn about their lives outside the often-sterile environment of a law office setting. Russ understands how an injury can affect you and your family’s life having been in two serious accidents himself.
Russ and his wife Lynn, who is an Episcopal Priest, live with their rescue dog Dr. Seuss in Fort Collins, Colorado. Russ and Lynn have one son, Todd, who they are very proud of and two grandchildren who they adore and spend as much time as possible with.

TLC’s methods emphasize creative, spontaneous, and outside-the-box innovations that capture juries and move them to justice. The 3-Week College is led by a team of TLC-trained and experienced trial lawyers, behavioral and communication experts. Active learning that is focused on winning justice for those who are lost, forgotten, injured and damned. Most importantly, gained fresh insight about myself to have the capability to know others and to connect with each person in the courtroom including the witnesses, judge and jurors.
